Phoetry

A Girl by Ezra Pound

The tree has entered my hands,

The sap has ascended my arms,

The tree has grown in my breast-
Downward,
The branches grow out of me, like arms.
Tree you are,Moss you are,You are violets with wind above them.
A child - so high - you are,And all this is folly to the world.
A child - so high - you are,And all this is folly to the world.

Narrative Picture

This picture of an underage girl smoking a cigarette, it shows a sense of rebellion. The picture tells a story of despair and the want for attention. This picture also shows the aging in society, little girls and boys want to grow up so fast and be like adults. The lighting makes the little girl stand out, and everything else is kind of blurred. I also feel the black and white added to the picture, it makes you feel more gloomy and and no color takes away from the subject.

Photogram Reflection

1. For the fundraiser, I photo-shopped two pictures. Which included basically cutting and pasting our subjects onto a background they picked.
2. I feel the most successful thing was finishing all of the pictures on time, and to the best of our ability, seeing as photo-shop can be difficult.
3. Well improvements we could make for next time is definitely not doing it last minute. Also when editing the pictures, we should be assigned the pictures and how many, it would be more organized that way. Cooler backgrounds could also be an improvement for next time, and maybe a better location for taking the pictures, where the backdrop reaches all the way to the floor.
4. If we did another photogram fundraiser it should be for spring break, beach themes and beach props. If not then, an end of the year fundraiser, it would be cool for the seniors to get pictures of their last year. Not sure what that theme could be, something fun, not necessarily a season or holiday theme.
5. I think I could definitely improve my photo-shop skills, by practicing. I didn't really learn about any new tools, but the eraser tool to erase little white spots like in between curls in the hair and stuff like that. I'm glad that the clients were impressed, and I hope we can do even better next time and have even more clients.

Project 3: Composition

Artist Statement: I took this group of pictures on my vacation in hawaii. They were all taken at different beaches, except the picture of the bird was taken at my favorite shave ice shop on the island. I have done job as an artist if my viewers feel relaxed and warm, i feel the colors and the fact the beaches are empty would send the viewer into a tranquil state just looking at these and thinking about it. In the first picture i focused on balance and line, you start by looking at my little sister then the line the water creates on the sand draws you back into the mountain, the mountain brings balance to my little sister. The third picture does the same, the rocks lead you into the background and it is also balanced. Pictures  four and five I focused on framing and depth. Picture two I framed and cropped the bird in the photo because the background was taking away.

Artist Statement: This series of photographs is about capturing an object and portraying it in a number series, the first picture with one shoe, the second with two shoes, so on and so on. The pictures come together because it's the same object just multiplied. It's not the same exact object seeing as the heels are different styles and colors, but it's the fact they are all heels that brings the picture together. I represented form and shape in these photos. I feel the most successful part of my pictures was the angle I shot the shoes from after trying a whole bunch! The least successful part of these pictures was first of all the shoes didn't want to stay balanced for that long, but I tried to work as fast as i could to get a good shot with the shoes still on the fountain. The second obstacle was when I thought of my idea for this picture I didn't realize all the things around the are, but even so I think the shoes are what catches your eyes the most, so it was alright. If I could do this project again I would think of another location that was cool, but where the shoes would stay or balance better.
